Do I require a planning permit?

Most building projects require a planning permit. There are some exemptions which include
• Single dwellings on land zoned residential
and over 300m2 or 500m2 land size.
• Garages, outbuildings, fences.
The time to process a planning application through council can vary depending upon the nature of the development.

Small simple projects can usually be processed within 60-90 days. Larger and more complex projects can take 6-12 months.
